A grand jury indictment unsealed Wednesday accuses a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy of smuggling drugs hidden in a burrito into a courthouse lockup.
Henry Marin, 27, pleaded not guilty to one count each of bringing drugs into a jail and conspiracy to commit a crime.
Marin, who has been relieved of duty without pay, was assigned to the Court Services Division at the Airport Branch Courthouse in Los Angeles.
Marin is accused of conspiring with at least one other person to transport narcotics into the jail, according to the indictment returned Tuesday.
A burrito was also used to smuggle drugs to an inmate in Valencia County jail in New Mexico. Whether the two cases are related is yet to be seen.
